Champagne Sunday’s: Part One of Ziggy’s Journey…

27 01 2009

The journey to find the Moon began 3 years ago when Ziggy decided to pack her suitcase with everything she owned.  Most people walk away from their past, not Ziggy…she ran as fast as she could to the ends of the earth hoping to find what she was looking for.

During the first year of Ziggy’s journey, she was reintroduced to the Sun.  You see since the day Ziggy was born, the Sun was always a constant in her life. The Sun was always shinning its rays of light and helping her by leading the way. As stubborn as Ziggy was, she never seemed to see the light or follow the direction that the Sun gave. Sometimes, she would feel the Sun on her face, but mostly the Sun was always on her back, and Ziggy resented that, so she told the Sun she did not need it anymore.

One day, the fiercest Storm came into Ziggy’s life.  The rains that fell from Heaven were like razor blades and they cut Ziggy’s flesh; the winds blew Ziggy every which way but sideways and took her off course from her journey.  Ziggy cried out to the Sun for it to come out and magically save her, but the Sun was nowhere to be found.  Ziggy cried out again for somebody, anybody too magically save her, but there was no one to cry out too.

Occasionally the Sun did peak out, but it did not stay long enough and the Storm continued.  Ziggy was drowning from the torrential down pours and because of her resentment towards the Sun, Ziggy soon found herself in complete darkness.  In the dark, Ziggy could not see, could not feel, and could not love. For the first time in Ziggy’s life, she was alone and had to learn how to weather this fierce Storm by herself.

In the midst of trying to save herself, Ziggy finally realized that she created her own darkness. She covered her eyes and that is why she could not see, she pushed the Sun away and that is why should could not feel it and she could not love because she did not love herself. Soon after this realization, the Storm stopped. Some people believe that the calm comes before the Storm, but the calm came after Ziggy’s.

Ziggy tried to get back on course, but without the help from the Sun, she knew it was going to be difficult.  Ziggy continued her journey alone and one day out of the blue, the Sun came out.  This time the Sun kissed her face and Ziggy looked up and said to the Sun, “Why weren’t you there for me when I needed you most???” The Sun responded, “Ziggy, you pushed me away and I didn’t know what to do, so I hid just like you.  I watched the Storm almost take your life and all I wanted to do was to save you, but I knew that if you were going to complete this journey, you needed to fight this Storm on your own.”

Ziggy began to cry and said to the Sun, “I can’t do this on my own, I can’t go on alone!!!” The Sun came down from the sky began to get closer and closer and closer to Ziggy and it started to burn her sun kissed face.  “Ouch!!!”, Ziggy yelped.  “See”, the Sun said. “If I get too close, I hurt you.  I do not know how else to help you, but to stay back.  And if I stay back in the sky you sometimes might not be able to see me or feel me, but know that I will always love you my Ziggy.  You must continue your journey on your own, but remember…you are never alone. I will always be here for you. So save your tears and remember no one ever said your journey was going to easy. You will find your Moon.”

Ziggy’s journey continued, thanks to the Sun. However, Ziggy was tired of running and decided to find a place to regain her energy. She found an old Sycamore Tree and sat down under its branches to rest. Ziggy liked this Sycamore Tree and decided to make it her home until she was ready to continue her journey.  Ziggy climbed the Sycamore Tree and took a nap in the middle of the tree where she felt she would be protected and safe just in case the fierce Storm came back.

During the day, Ziggy would sing to entertain herself. As she sang, the Sycamore Tree would sway back and forth.  If Ziggy stopped singing, the Sycamore Tree would shake its branches until she would sing again. Ziggy could not entertain the Sycamore Tree all the time, so at nite, they both would rest.  Ziggy never really slept so to occupy her nites she would look up in the midnite sky and watch the Stars and search for the Moon until the Sun would come up.  On nites when the Stars did not come out to dance, Ziggy would close her eyes and dream of her Moon.  Ziggy never did see her Moon in the midnite sky and she always wondered why…

They say time heals all wounds and as time passed, Ziggy’s wounds finally began to heal and she became healthy enough to continue her journey. However, before she moved on, she decided to give the Sycamore Tree a gift for giving her a home. Ziggy took her remaining possessions including her suitcase and began to build a swing.  She took her cloths, made ropes out of them, took her suitcase, and made a seat.  It was actually a pretty cool swing. Ziggy tied the swing to the weakest branch of the Sycamore Tree. She did this on purpose, as Ziggy always did things for a reason.  Ziggy wanted to test the swing out, but she knew that if she did, that it would break the Sycamore Tree’s branch and Ziggy did not want to hurt the Sycamore Tree.

Ziggy was ready to continue her journey.  She wanted to spend one more nite with the Sycamore Tree.  Instead of sleeping in the middle of the tree like she always did, she climbed to the very top.  Once Ziggy made it to the top, she saw the most beautiful thing in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD.  For the first time in a very long time, Ziggy saw her Moon.  The Stars were dancing all around the Moon and Ziggy began to cry.  This time when she cried, the tears that fell were happy ones.  It was the most magical nite Ziggy has ever had and she wanted to remember this nite forever.  Ziggy climbed down the Sycamore Tree hoping not to disturb it and left a note that read:

Dear Sycamore Tree,

I will be back once I complete my journey.  I am not sure how long it is going to take, so in meantime I hope that you will continue to grow strong enough so that I may swing on my swing when I return.  Thank you for listening to me sing and keeping me safe.  You have given me a sense of hope and that is all I needed to continue my journey.

Love,

Me…Ziggy XOXOXO

Ziggy continued on her journey, but instead of running, this time she just walked away wearing nothing but her favorite boots. As Ziggy continued her journey, she kept her eyes on the Stars and her Moon.  This time she was not going to let the Moon escape her sight.
